The party goes mobile?

The shift of social networking to the mobile channel is tipped to be the next big thing, with key players making strategic decisions to help them capture shares of the juicy forecast revenues. However, network operators could easily put two and two together to make zero – or less. It’s our opinion that the winners in this space may not be those who design the best communities but those who ensure that they are fit to survive the onslaught of new entrants and disruptive technologies in a ubiquitous IP world.

Whose opinion?

Ian Paterson

Ian is a partner in our business transformation group and is responsible for strategy in the telecoms & media sector. He has worked in the telecoms industry for over 25 years. He was vice president of the telecoms business sector for Atos Origin and, as a partner in KPMG consulting, Ian was responsible for systems integration and was a member of the KPMG ICE management team. He has held various senior positions at IBM, C&L and Cap Gemini and was CIO with Cellnet, the UK mobile operator, from 1995—97. He has recently given up golf for dinghies.
