The Unix Services team is responsible for the technical support of a Unix estate of approximately 100 servers in approx 10 locations. Our Technical Support Team supports a number of major public and private sector clients across Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK. The role is office based and the successful applicant will be expected to deliver operational managed services including such as support, design, technical specification and pricing services.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate on their CV that they have broad technical support experience in the support of Unix based server estates, to include those skills listed as 'mandatory'. The ability to demonstrate experience in the skills listed as 'useful' and ‘On the job’ would be advantageous. The role requires a self-motivated person, with strong inter-personal skills, who is able to communicate effectively with people at all levels. The role may require the day-to-day mentoring of junior members of staff and the ability to lead a team during project implementation. The role may, on occasion, require the person to work outside of their own skill set by being able to accurately follow specific technical instruction from colleagues or documentation/plans.

It should be noted that the post may involve participation in an on-call rota, working both in Ireland and England, and overtime working at short notice (both evenings and weekends). Travel to customer site may be required from time to time. The post holder must be a driver with own transport and hold a full driving licence valid for use in UK.

Successful Applicants will be required to pass appropriate Security Clearances.

Skills - Mandatory:

* Unix operating system including Solaris, AIX, Linux or HPUX

* Logical volume manager experience

* Backup/Recovery Technologies/Strategy

* TCP/IP networking

* Excellent written/verbal communication skills

Skills - Useful:

*Clustering

*Enterprise Wide Backup Strategy

*Enterprise Management S/W
