Role overview:
We require additional Oracle Applications DBAs for our market leading Oracle practice. Joining a highly respected Oracle consultancy team, you will be given the opportunity to work on market leading Oracle engagements using cutting edge technologies. To be considered, you must have proven Oracle Apps DBA experience, which will include very good knowledge of all aspects of Oracle Applications suite and solid skills gained on Oracle implementations and upgrade projects. Good exposure to Oracle Apps 11i is required. Good experience of sizing, capacity planning, backup & recovery, both in terms of developing and implementing strategies required. Technical Architecture work - i.e. devising a server architecture for simple to complex implementation will be required. Any Oracle certifications would be useful but not essential. Travel will be expected.
Any successful candidates will need to gain security clearance as part of the offer process.
Role responsibilities:
- Ensure that production systems are available to the business during core hours
- Resolve incidents logged by the business users
- Patch environments
- Perform database tuning
- Provide advice on SQL tuning
- Monitor performance of production systems
- Attend project meetings
- Build and manage development and test environments
- Implement new application releases in test environments
- Work closely with project teams through all project phases
Specific Skills and Experience
- Experience of Oracle 9i and 10g
- Good understanding of the Oracle database, related utilities and tools, 8i, 9i, 10g and 9i Real Application Clusters
- Good understanding of Oracle Application Server 9i and 10g
- Reasonable understanding of Sun Solaris
- Sound knowledge of database tuning
- Good understanding of Oracle backup and recovery scenarios
- Good understanding of Oracle security management
- Good understanding of data integrity
- Understanding of change management
- Good communication skills at all levels
- Ability to work on multiple work streams
- Willingness to work out of hours when required
- Ability to take ownership of project work and attend project meetings
