About Bits & Bytes

Bits & Bytes was initiated by a number of people who had been "retired" early from ICL, who wanted to keep in contact with the company and get news of what was happening in "Our Company".
More importantly it was seen as a means of keeping in contact with ex-colleagues, advertising reunions and letting people know about people who had died.
The first edition came out in October 1995 and subsequent editions have been published every 6 months. When it was first published there were only about 1500 ICL Fund pensioners. Now there are over 9000.
Originally it was only issued on paper - in hard copy. Bits & Bytes is also published electronically on this website. Members can also access all previous issues.

Material for Bits & Bytes

The editor would like to receive articles from a wider range of people who worked for ICL and its predecessors.
Many people have commented on the fact that most anecdotes and stories come from ex-engineers and would like to see a wider spread of articles. So would the editor, but he can only publish what he is sent and there has been little input from programmers, operators, sales people, etc!
Please help to give everybody something which is of interest to all disciplines, and click here to contact the Bits and Bytes Newsletter Editor about articles.

The Website and Bits & Bytes

Bits & Bytes is published every six months, and that limits its scope for immediate news.
This website enables quicker publication of news - topical items can be published quickly.
