Contacts and Reunions

Networking and Contacts

Many people have worked in ICL over the years, and this page explains ways that ICL people can contact each other, for meeting up, for reunions, and for networking.

There will be people who want to participate, and some who only want to participate on certain things, as well as some who don’t want to be involved.

Email is marvellous, but can be open to abuse. The facilities in this site have been designed taking account of good practice, and of privacy and data protection requirements.

Contacting ICL people

Firstly – use your existing contacts for networking, and take part in reunion and other activities. This site enables reunion groups to publicise their activities to a wider audience.

This site adds to the ways ICL people can get in touch with each other, by having a `directory of registered members’. The people who can register on the directory on this site are pensioner members of the ICL Group Pension Plan – people who left or retired after 31 st July 1991 (as current or deferred pensioners).

ICL people who left or retired before 31 July 1991 as pensioners are in the Nortel Networks UK Pension Plan, and are not able to register on this site. They may be able to make contacts or be contacted using other routes (some are given below), or by personal networking.

Note that the information in the directory on this website is maintained by the individual members, and is likely to be up to date – since it is associated with their pensions.

Contacting individual ICL people via this site

Many ICL people from the community of pensioners and former staff have registered, and are in the directory on this site (over 3100).

Once you have registered as a member on this site you can browse the directory, and view details of other members. The details that you can see are what the member concerned has chosen to make visible.

Messages can be sent to another member, asking them to get in contact. For protection against misuse of Email, and so that members Email addresses are not shown on the site, message relaying is used.

When you register you have a choice about how much of your individual details will be visible to other members. You can also amend your directory entry at any time.

Reunion and other groups

The Reunion Group List is given on a separate page, with details of known active groups, as supplied by the group. This list is also published in the `Bits and Bytes’ newsletter.

The website also enables groups have news published quickly about meetings and events, and more quickly than in the 6 monthly `Bits and Bytes’ newsletter.

Contacting individual ICL people via other routes

The `Friends of ICL’ website at http://www.friendsoficl.org.uk has about 800 names – and has many who left ICL for work elsewhere. It includes many former staff who are not in the ICL Group Pension Plan. The `Friends of ICL’ website continues alongside the ICL Pensioners website, and we have agreed to collaborate.

The `Bits and Bytes Email Directory’ is a predecessor to this website – see the back page of the `Bits & Bytes’ newsletter for details. It has about 160 names – and has many who left ICL for work elsewhere. It includes many former staff who are not in the ICL Group Pension Plan. This list continues alongside the ICL Pensioners website.

Friends Reunited has many other groups with ICL in their name - but few are active or maintained.
